The Refectory Café is not your standard campus eatery. The Refectory Café is dedicated to providing healthy, homemade, nutritious meals while preserving the environment, strengthening our community, and enriching the lives of our employees. A few examples:
- The Refectory is proud to use as many local and organic products as possible. Not only does this approach provide you with more nutrient-dense food, it protects our environment by reducing the fossil fuels required to deliver your food.
- The Refectory is proud to pay our employees living wages and maintain business hours throughout the summer so that all full-time Bon Vivant Catering employees are eligible for BlueCross BlueShield benefits.
- The Refectory is proud to offer a menu that provides vegetarian, vegan & gluten-free products daily to support the nutritional needs of all of our customers. In addition, nutritional information is posted for all regular menu items.
- The Refectory is proud to provide "award-winning" service employees who consider it a privilege to serve the Law School and the Duke community.
The Refectory is a "green café" and as such is socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable. Our first cafe, located at Duke Divinity School, was created specifically for Duke University and has incorporated sustainable practices to reduce waste. Our goal is to create the same "environmentally sustainable" business at the Law School. Where possible, The Refectory at Duke Law uses recycled paper products, reusable brown baskets, and sacks for lunches and maintains green business practices. » Read more about our business philosophy
