Duke Alums Engage - Saturday, May 18
Alumni, friends, and family are invited to volunteer and help with the mission of Books for Africa, the largest shipper of donated text and library books to the African continent. Alumni, friends, and family attended to a Fireside Chat with Scott Bearby (NCAA General Counsel), Paul Haagen (Duke Law Professor), and John Yates T’78/L’81 (Chair of Final Four Host Committee) at the Buckhead Club, Atlanta.

NCAA Final Four Championship Game Preview - Monday, April 8
Alumni, friends, and family attended a book signing and lunch with former Duke basketball player and current ESPN commentator, Jay Bilas. The event was held at the The Commerce Club.

Duke Football Tailgate in Atlanta with Prof. Tom Metzloff - Saturday, November 17
Alumni joined Duke Law professor Tom Metzloff for a tailgate before the Duke vs. GA Tech football game.  The tailgate was held ALL DAY in the parking lot of Centennial Place Elementary School during the three hours before the game at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Atlanta Forever Duke Welcome Party - October 11, 2012
Duke Law Alumni, young and old, gathered to celebrate and build some new relationships at Twist. Special guest was Blair Holliday T’15.

Duke Alums Engage Day of Service - May 19, 2012
Law alums in Atlanta experienced a day of service with the Southeastern Horticultural Society. This day of service was part of the Duke Alums Engage program that took the experience of volunteering to a more meaningful level. Duke alums learned the principles of civic engagement and service-learning and then put them into practice through a group project tailored to the needs of the community. Alums had an opportunity to contemplate and evaluate the experience, as a group and individually.

"The Art of Effective Self-Promotion" - Mar. 27, 2012
Executive coach and Duke graduate Debby Stone '84, JD'89 presented a highly interactive session on how to tell your unique story and promote your value in an authentic way to anyone, anytime. Participants had the opportunity to consider how well and how comfortably they currently promote themselves, interact with fellow alumni, and learn the building blocks for improving and enhancing their self-promotion skills. Presented by the Duke Career Center, the Fuqua School of Business, Duke Law School, and the Duke Alumni Association. Held at Alston & Bird LLP.

"Well-Being and the Practice of Law" with Prof. Dan Bowling L'80 - Jan. 24, 2012
At the home of Dara Dehaven T'73, G'74, Atlanta alums enjoyed a reception for Professor Dan Bowling, L'80, who discussed the particular challenges lawyers face in balancing work, family, and personal well-being.

High Museum Visit and Reception - Nov. 3, 2011
Law alums toured the latest New York City MOMA exhibit From Picasso to Warhol: 14 Modern Masters, enjoyed a presentation by a High Museum of Art representative, and relaxed over drinks and hors d'oeuvres at Table 1280 Restaurant and Tapas Lounge in the Woodruff Arts Center.

Duke Law Atlanta General Counsel Roundtable with Professor Samuel Buell and Dean David F. Levi - Sept. 23, 2010
This roundtable exchange was the first in a series of gatherings among Duke Law graduates who serve as corporate counsel. Professor Buell and Dean Levi facilitated a dialogue about a variety of legal and professional topics of common interest, including how criminal law can be used to target and tame legally evasive corporate conduct. Duke Law Club of Atlanta Luncheon with Lisa Borders hosted by Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP - May 24, 2010
Duke colleagues and classmates in the Atlanta community held and an engaging discussion with Lisa Borders, president of the Grady Health Foundation, former president of the Atlanta City Council and co-chair of Mayor Kasim Reed's Transition Team. Ms. Borders talked about the 2009 Atlanta Mayoral Campaign, her work with the Atlanta City Council, and the issues facing the City of Atlanta. See pictures from this event.
