Duke Law School Clerkship Application & Recommendation System

CARS is an internal web application system designed specifically to meet the needs of Duke Law clerkship and is essential to the application process for both students and alumni. If you wish to apply for a clerkship, you must register through CARS. This program simplifies the process of creating a judge list for students by maintaining the most up-to-date federal judge hiring information with over 2,000 judges. Applicants can search, sort, and select judge list using a variety of features and directly download judge information as well. Information that applicants select in CARS is sent directly to administrators at the Law School for processing. For specific application instructions and a information on how to use CARS, please see the Clerkship Manual.

On-Line System for Clerkship Application & Review

OSCAR is the On-line System for Clerkship Application & Review. Judge lists created on CARS will indicate whether a judge accepts paper or online applications. All online applications are submitted using OSCAR. Applicants create electronic applications by uploading documents online for specific judges. Once an applicant has created all of their online applicants in OSCAR, faculty assistants will then have access to upload their letters of recommendation. For specific instructions on how to register for OSCAR and create on-line applications, please see the OSCAR Tutorial.
