Community Impact

The Community Enterprise Clinic works to achieve two, complementary missions both of which have important impacts. First, we provide community-based development organizations and low-wealth entrepreneurs with the high quality legal services that they need to conceive, plan and implement transactions that will improve the quality of life in economically disadvantaged communities. Second, we provide a unique opportunity for Duke Law students to develop the legal skills that are required for the effective practice of business law. The clinic's educational and community service missions are mutually reinforcing and through our work to achieve these goals we create value for our clients, our students and the communities in which we work.

Meeting Legal Needs

"The kind of expertise the Community Enterprise Clinic brings to the Goler-Depot Street Renaissance Community Development Corporation is the kind that we wouldn't be able to afford. They're on the cutting-edge in terms of these types of collaborations. It's important that we have someone on our side who can interpret the law and advise us what implications are for us as we forge ahead."
