Network Access - Wifi and Wired

Wireless networking using the Wi-Fi or 802.11g standard is available throughout the law school building and the law school annex. You may use your own wireless network card or check out one from the Library Circulation Desk on four-hour reserve. Instructions for installing and configuring the library's wireless cards are included with the cards.

All classrooms and many other locations also offer wired network connections. You need an ethernet cable (unshielded twisted pair) to connect. Contact the help desk for more information about this option.

NetReg (Network Registration) Authentication

To use the wireless network you must authenticate with your NetID. You will need to register once each semester.

  1. Open a web browser and it will automatically open the NetReg authentication page.
  2. Enter your Duke NetID and password in the indicated spaces and select the Submit button.
  3. Once authenticated, you should restart your computer to allow a new IP address to be assigned.

Following restart you may freely browse the Internet and use other network applications, including the NetWare login and GroupWise. For more detailed information check the OIT wireless information page.
