American Immigration and Nationality Law
The first half of the course is an intensive survey of American Immigration and Nationality Law, acquainting the student with the history, structure, and an outline of current law. A challenging midterm examination both measures knowledge gained and helps encourage a good grasp of the law. In the second half of the semester, guest speaker presentations are interspersed with student-directed presentations of research into history, policy, comparative law, and other self-chosen areas of study.
Grades are based on the midterm (40%), presentations (10%), reports or papers (40%) and class involvement (10%).
Please note that course organization and content may vary substantially from semester to semester and descriptions are not necessarily professor specific. Please contact the instructor directly if you have particular course-related questions.
