This event marks the first installment of the Duke Litigators "Lunch With a Litigator" series. The 50th anniversary of the landmark case, Gideon v. Wainwright has spurred much discussion in the legal community. Scholars question the true impact of this decision on criminal law, especially when considering the substantial, and sometimes overwhelming, public defender caseload. Please join us in welcoming Duke Law graduate, Katherine Shea, as she discusses her opinion on this subject and her life (ups and down included) as a North Carolina Federal public defender. This catered (non-pizza) lunch is sure to be highly informative and fuel conversation outside of the lecture series. For more information, please contact Chauneice Davis at email@example.com. -- Funding for the event is provided by the Duke Bar Association.
