Join Ember Reichgott Junge, Duke Law '77, to hear the story behind the first charter school law. Thirty years ago there were no state charter schools. Today more than two million students attend charter schools in over 40 states and the District of Columbia. As a Minnesota state senator, Reichgott Junge worked for three years to ensure the passage of the initial charter school legislation. Her book provides an insider's look at the legislative process and the compromises sometimes necessary as a bill becomes a law.
