Senior Lecturing Fellow
Ms. Shaw is a member of the faculty of the Duke University's School of Law where her primary teaching interests are in the fields of Trust & Estates, Taxation and the Ethics of Trust and Estates and Tax, and Fiduciary Legal Practice. She has taught at Duke since 1989 teaching each year the courses in Trusts and Estates and in Estate and Gift Taxation. Professor Shaw developed the course in Advanced Issues in Estate Planning, an advanced tax seminar, as well as in Ethical Issues in Gratuitous Transaction, both of which she currently is teaching, along with offices in Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina, where she serves as Counsel to the North Carolina firm of Poyner & Spruill.
She is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education programs for practicing attorneys and is a member of the Council of the North Carolina Bar Association's Probate and Fiduciary Law Section. Also at this time, she is serving as a member of The Endowment Committee of the Charlotte Arts and Science Council. She is a recent past Chairman of the Duke University Law School's Barrister's Society as well as serving recently as a member of the Duke Law Alumni Council and additionally a member of the Executive Committee of that body.
