Career Counselor

Sonya works with students and alumni, especially those interested in private practice.  Sonya earned her B.A. at St. John’s College in Annapolis, MD with a joint major in Philosophy and History of Math and Science.  After traveling in Italy for a time, Sonya moved to Brooklyn and attended law school at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in Manhattan.  While in New York, Sonya also worked for the U.S. Department of Labor, Employee Benefits Security Administration investigating corporations for violations of ERISA.  Five years ago, she moved to North Carolina where she began to practice civil litigation at a small firm in Cary. Her practice focused on civil rights violations and violations of North Carolina’s Unfair Trade and Deceptive Practices statute.
