Fourth Circuit Judge Diana Gribbon Motz visits Duke Law

Judge MotzDiana Gribbon Motz, Circuit Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit spoke with students at Duke Law School on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 2:45 p.m. in Room 4047. A brief reception followed on the fourth floor loggia.

Judge Motz is a graduate of Vassar College and the University of Virginia School of Law. She was appointed to her present position in 1994 after a three-year term as associate judge for the Court of Special Appeals for the Sixth Appellate Circuit. Prior to this, Judge Motz practiced law as a partner with the Baltimore firm Frank, Bernstein, Conaway & Goldman, and served for fourteen years in the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Maryland, first as assistant attorney general (1972-81) and then as chief of litigation (1982-86). She is married to J. Frederick Motz, Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.
