Applicants should complete the application form. Students seeking to apply academic credit earned in the program to an American law school must submit a letter of good standing. It should be noted that overseas summer programs should not be used as a means of accelerating graduation.
The application must be accompanied by an initial tuition payment of U.S. $500, a housing deposit of U.S. $500, and a non-refundable registration fee of U.S. $350. Payments may be made in one of two ways: 1) by check in U.S. dollars, drawn on a U.S. bank, and made payable, to the order of "Duke University - Asia-America Institute" OR 2) by bank wire in U.S. dollars (contact Tonya Jacobs for wiring details). Note: Any wiring fee must be paid by the applicant. These payments will be applied against tuition, student accommodation fees, and registration, respectively. The balance of tuition, student accommodation, and non-resident fees will be payable as close to April 7 as possible and should be remitted by check or bank wire in U.S. dollars in the same way.
Applications will be accepted on a continuing basis until the program is fully subscribed. Places in the Institute are limited, however, and it is advisable to try to apply before April 8. If for any reason an applicant is not accepted into the program, the tuition and housing fees will be refunded in full. Refunds of tuition and student accommodations fees will be given only to an applicant who withdraws for exceptional reasons. No refunds will be given after June 9.
