Summer Institutes

Duke Law School's international programs include two summer institutes for students interested in studying international and comparative law in a dynamic international setting. The Duke-Geneva Institute in Transnational Law, in Geneva, Switzerland, and the Asia-America Institute in Transnational Law, in Hong Kong, offer courses in such areas as emerging markets, terrorism and humanitarian law, comparative constitutional law, and international business law.

In small classes and residential settings, the international faculty members teach and interact with students, who themselves are from around the world. The institutes, which are accredited by the American Bar Association, enroll students from Duke and other U.S. law schools, as well as students from the partner universities (University of Geneva and Hong Kong University) and students and graduates of law faculties of many countries. The institutes, which each offer an introduction to U.S. law course, are especially useful for international students who intend to study in U.S. LLM programs.

Duke Law School also offers the Summer Institute on Law, Language, & Culture for international students. This four-week intensive program takes place at Duke Law School and is designed to introduce international students and visitors to the American law school experience.
