The Program in Public Law presents a lecture by Barry Friedman, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Professor of Law at NYU School of Law. Friedman argues in The Will of the People that the Supreme Court is sensitive to popular opinion and public reaction to its decisions. The Roberts Court has steadily moved the law in a conservative direction, with remarkably little public attention other than Citizens United. What does the Court's future hold, especially given looming issues regarding the constitutionality of health care, Arizona's immigration law, and California's Prop 8?
