Program in Public Law presents Jay Sekulow Oct. 15

October 8, 2007--Jay Sekulow, chief counsel for the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) will discuss the Roberts court on Monday, Oct. 15, during a lunchtime event sponsored by the Program in Public Law. His talk, “The Roberts Court Moves Right?,” will begin at 12:15 p.m. in room 3041 at Duke Law School, located at the corner of Science Drive and Towerview Road on Duke’s West Campus.

This event, co-sponsored by the Federalist Society, is free and open to the public. Parking is available at the Bryan Center.

Sekulow is chief counsel for the American Center for Law and Justice (ALCJ), a public interest law firm and advocacy organization that specializes in constitutional and religious liberty litigation. Among the many cases Sekulow has argued in the Supreme Court are Board of Education of Westside Community Schools v. Mergens, which cleared the way for public school students to form Bible clubs and religious organizations on their school campuses, Lamb’s Chapel v. Center Moriches School District, which upheld free speech rights of religious groups and their right to use public facilities, and McConnell v. FEC (2003), in which the court struck down parts of the Bipartisan Campaign Finance Reform Act of 2002 ― better known as the McCain-Fiengold Act.

Sekulow is a frequent media commentator and the host of a national daily radio program, Jay Sekulow Live. In 2005 Time named Sekulow one of the “25 Most Influential Evangelicals.”

A light lunch will be served at each event on a first-come, first-served basis.
