Clinical Professor Andrew Foster Appointed Associate Editor of the Journal of Affordable Housing and Community Development Law

Clinical Professor Andrew Foster has been appointed associate editor of the Journal of Affordable Housing and Community Development Law. A quarterly legal journal published by the American Bar Association, the Journal is the leading legal publication for law faculty, students and practitioners in the field of affordable housing and community development law.

Foster will serve as the Journal’s associate editor for two years, after which he will assume the position of editor-in-chief. “At the most basic, my goal is to continue the high quality and relevance of the practical scholarship published in the Journal,” says Foster. “Eventually, I would also like to explore the potential of incorporating more interdisciplinary, international, and empirical research to provide the data and perspectives needed to help shape the direction of this area of practice and scholarship in a way that has the potential to have the greatest impact on society.”

Director of the Law School’s Community Enterprise Clinic, Foster joined the Duke faculty in 2002 after practicing full-time at Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, where he was a founding member of the firm’s community development law team. Before earning his law degree, he held leadership positions with several North Carolina non-profit community development organizations, including the Southern Rural Development Initiative, where is a member of the board of directors; The North Carolina Justice and Community Development Center; and the Community Reinvestment Association of North Carolina. Foster is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and serves on the board of directors of the Equity Corporation and the North Carolina Fair Housing Center.
