Southern Justice Spring Break Participants Celebrate

On Tuesday, March 27, 2007, the 34 Duke Law participants in the Southern Justice Spring Break Trip will celebrate their success and safe return with a party in the Burdman Lounge at 4:00 (following a 3:30 meeting of those who went to New Orleans).

The following students participated:

New Orleans hurricane-relief work through various organizations - Lisa Bolotin, Michael Kaplan, Eugenie Montague, Jill Falor, Matt Lipsky, Michael Pusateri, Jeff Filipink, Jennifer Ma, Jessica Sklarski, Jonathan Grunberg, Xin Dai, Sue Massey, Katherine Scott, Hartmut Kahl, Vikrant Negi, Emily Sauter, Ambrea Watts, Dan Foster, Eric Lashner, Anthony Brichta, Ben Meeks, Julia DiPrete, Robert Needham, and Lauren Mandell, along with Associate Dean Carol Spruill

Mississippi Center for Justice assignment in Biloxi - Chris Richardson

Honolulu, Hawaii Public Defender's Office - Tsai Chia-Jung, Julia German, Tricia Sindel, and Amelia Hairston-Porter, and
Joel Cohen worked with a Federal Judge along with '06 alumnus Zack McNish.

Appalachian Kentucky - Heather Johnson, Kelly Taylor, and Kish Vinayagamoorthy.

Many thanks to this year's leaders. The Director of the entire effort for the second year in a row was Amy Curry. Under her leadership, the program has grown from 5 participants two years ago to 34 this year. Lauren Mandell organized the 25 students going to New Orleans. Joel Cohen founded the Hawaii leg of the trip last year and headed it up again this year. Emily Jura organized Mississippi, Stephen Fairchild organized Atlanta, and JP Pahl organized Kentucky.
