Duke in D.C. applications now accepted
The Duke in D.C. program will place 6-12 upper class law students in externship placements on Capitol Hill in Washington. In addition to their externship placements, students will enroll in
a course on the federal policy process that will be taught in Washington by Duke instructors, Chris Schroeder and Ted Kaufman, who will also be the Duke supervisors of the externship
component of the program. The students will also write a research paper. Application information is available at http://www.law.duke.edu/curriculum/capstone/index. The deadline for applying is Monday, Oct. 20, 2008.
DukeALERT test today, Oct. 7
A test of the DukeALERT notification system will take place today at approximately 11:00 AM. Several components of the campus emergency notification system may be tested. The notification
system includes emergency emails, text messages, a telephone recording, an emergency website, and the outdoor warning system. You may register to receive emergency text messages at https://sms.oit.duke.edu/register. This will be the start of a program designed to periodically test DukeALERT communication tools and to help raise
awareness about how Duke community members will be notified of an emergency. As part of the test, you may be asked to respond to an online survey to assess the effectiveness of various
DukeALERT communication methods.
