Careers in Corporate Law: Regulatory Compliance

November 17, 2014 • 12:30 PM • Law School 3041

While Congress is at home for election season, the financial regulations it has enacted in recent years continue to have significant impact on the financial sector and keep lawyers busy in compliance and regulatory legal practices. We invite you to learn from current practitioners about the impact that financial regulation has had on financial institutions, the role that lawyers play in advising their clients and the skill sets to develop during law school to prepare for a successful career with this corporate focus. Panelists for the event include Timothy O'Shea, a Principal at Promontory Financial Group; Lucy Chang, currently with the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System; and Martin Lybecker, a partner at Perkins Coie in Washington, D.C. The panel will be moderated by Professor Lawrence Baxter. This discussion, co-sponsored by The Business Law Society and the Career & Professional Development Center, is the second panel of a five-part series introducing students to the variety of different career paths available under the umbrella of business law. Lunch will be served. For more information, please contact Nick Kitzman at nwk3@duke.edu.
