Did you know the underlying technology behind LEDs and solar panels are the same? Ever wonder how the evolution of light bulbs resulted in LEDs? The Duke Smart Home will deliver a public, interactive presentation on the BC Plaza and everyone is welcomed to stop by! We will demonstrate the basic principles of light generation for incandescents, fluorescents, and LEDs, and discuss why LEDs are more energy-efficient. Afterward, attendees will have the opportunity to take part in the debut of the Smart Home's lighting economizer web tool and get hands-on experimenting with solar panels.
