Gun Control: Past, Present and Future

March 03, 2016 • 12:30 PM • Law School 3037

Issues related to gun ownership have plagued the United States for a long time. The Supreme Court's decision in Heller marked a new beginning in the legal debate concerning private gun ownership. In the recent years, mass shootings and terrorist attacks have over and over again brought people's attention to this legal and social issue. With Obama's new gun control executive order, Scalia's recent death, and the upcoming presidential election, the future is even more unpredictable. Prof. Blocher and Prof. Miller from the Law School, Prof. Swanson from the Psychiatry Department, and Prof. Welty from UNC School of Government will talk about the different aspects of the issue. Co-sponsored by ACS, Duke Law Democrats and the Health Law Society. Chick-fil-a will be served. For more information, please contact Wenbo Zhang at wz53@duke.edu.
