Incarceration and Mental Health

August 30, 2023 • 12:30 PM • Law School 3037

Anthony Willis was sentenced to life without parole as a juvenile and spent over 20 years incarcerated. After receiving clemency in 2022, he joined North Carolina's Citizens United for Restorative Effectiveness (NC CURE) to draw attention to the inhumane conditions in prisons and jails. Join Anthony, Dr. Nicole Schramm-Saptya, and Professor Elana Fogel for a discussion on how incarceration impacts mental health and how the Duke Law community can support those incarcerated. Sponsored by the National Lawyers Guild and Wilson Center for Science and Justice. For more information, please contact Taylor Dempsey at taylor.dempsey@duke.edu.
