The Internet Con: A Conversation with Cory Doctorow

December 05, 2023 • 12:30 PM • Law School 4047

Please join us for a conversation with Cory Doctorow and James Boyle about the politics and economics of the online world. Doctorow's latest books on those subjects are THE INTERNET CON: HOW TO SEIZE THE MEANS OF COMPUTATION and CHOKEPOINT CAPITALISM (with Rebecca Giblin). Both deal with the debilitating effects of monopolistic platforms on our law, politics, and culture. Doctorow is an award-winning author, activist, journalist, and public intellectual. His most recent science fiction includes THE LOST CAUSE which, ironically, has a message of hope about climate change, and RED TEAM BLUES, a thriller about cryptocurrency and financial crime. Sponsored by the Center for the Study of the Public Domain. Lunch will be served: please RSVP to lauren.maxey@duke.edu. For more information, please contact Jennifer Jenkins at jenkins@law.duke.edu.
