Climate Change and the Courts: Balancing Stewardship and Restraint

February 28, 2023 • 12:30 PM • Law School 4055

Justice Susan Glazebrook of the New Zealand Supreme Court will provide a survey of recent developments in climate litigation, with a particular focus on cases brought by youth and indigenous peoples. She will weigh the ambition of these cases against the factors which potentially limit the role and competency of the courts to address the existential crisis posed by climate change. Co-sponsored by the Bolch Judicial Institute and the Environmental Law Society. Lunch will be provided. For more information, please contact Kristin Triebel at kristin.triebel@law.duke.edu.
