Originalism: Beyond the Supreme Court

September 14, 2022 • 12:30 PM • Law School 4055

Originalism has received extensive coverage in the classroom and on the United States Supreme Court. But how does it play out in the everyday decisions a judge makes about U.S. law? Join us for a discussion with the Honorable Robert T. Numbers, a federal magistrate judge on the Eastern District of North Carolina and Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law Professor Ilan Wurman. Judge Numbers and Professor Wurman will explore the topic further and answer questions about statutory interpretation and Originalism generally. Judge Numbers will also answer questions about clerking for a magistrate judge. Lunch will be provided. Sponsored by the Federalist Society and the Clerkship Office.
