Alan Pope
Senior Lecturing Fellow

Mr. Pope is a Partner at Moore & Van Allen PLLC, and a member of the firm’s Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring Practice.  He primarily counsels traditional lenders, business development corporations and junior capital providers in corporate workouts and out-of-court restructurings as well as in-court reorganizations.  His practice also includes structuring intercreditor arrangements in multi-lender financing transactions.  Recent engagements include the representation of SunTrust Bank as a senior secured lender in a chapter 11 proceeding of an oil field services company in Minnesota and the representation of a real estate development company in the issuance of a $400MM senior note issuance. Mr. Pope has been recognized by inclusion in Business North Carolina's Legal Elite list for 2005, 2008, 2014-2017 and in the Chambers Partners Guide - Bankruptcy/Restructuring, 2009 - 2017.  He is a frequent speaker on emerging financial products and intercreditor relationships. He holds a B.S., summa cum laude, from Clemson University in Ceramic Engineering, an M.S. from Northwestern University in Materials Science and Engineering and a J.D. from Emory University where he was the First Honor Graduate.  Mr. Pope served as law clerk to Chief Judge Henry Politz on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Judicial Circuit.
