Emmy and Peabody award winning journalist Charlie Rose will speak at Duke Law School’s hooding ceremony on May 12, 2007. The Henderson, North Carolina native and host of PBS’ “The Charlie Rose Show” is a 1968 graduate of the Law School. He received his B.A. from Duke University in 1964.
Rose is known for the depth and relaxed nature of his interviews with politicians, athletes, scientists, entertainers, and thinkers, as well as a wide range of newsmakers. In addition to his late night talk-show, “The Charlie Rose Science Series,” a 12-part program examining the importance of scientific research, premiered October 31. Rose anchored “CBS News Nightwatch” from 1984 to 1990. He won an Emmy Award for his interview with Charles Manson in 1987.
Rose is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and has received honorary doctorates of law from C. W. Post College and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
