Knowledge Networks

Blockchain Education Network (BEN)

BEN began as a Facebook messenger group of bitcoin student leaders from MIT, Stanford, Delaware, Michigan and Penn State and has expanded into a 1,000-member community with initiatives to boost morale, encourage participation and share blockchain know-how.

Blockchain Research Institute (BRI)

This non-profit organization identifies subject matter experts to research and develop reports and case studies on blockchain topics of critical interest to leaders of

business, government and NGOs.

DC Blockchain Center

This resource for technology providers and governments educates entrepreneurs nd policy-makers on the potential benefits of blockchain and provides a platform for the public and private sectors to collaborate on blockchain use cases.

MIT Media Lab Digital Currency Initiative (DCI)

This global hub supports deep research in such areas as healthcare and medical records, global rights management, decentralized publishing, user-controlled credit identities, central bank and digital currency adoption, and securitized financing for solar microgrids.

The Online Lending Policy Institute:

a nonprofit public policy organization based in Boston, MA. Their mission is to encourage responsible innovation in online lending through thought leadership and fostering a meaningful dialogue between policy makers, industry experts, and academics

Milken Institute Center for Financial Markets:

This center includes a fintech program that seeks to analyze how fintech is being applied to drive actionable solutions for: access to capital, financial inclusion, and transparency and compliance

Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance:

an international interdisciplinary academic research institute dedicated to the study of alternative finance, which includes financial channels and instruments that emerge outside of the traditional financial system (i.e. regulated banks and capital markets). Examples of alternative channels are online 'marketplaces' such as equity- and reward-based crowdfunding, peer-to-peer consumer/business lending, and third-party payment platforms. Alternative instruments include SME mini-bonds, private placements and other 'shadow banking' mechanisms, social impact bonds and community shares used by non-profit enterprises, and alternative currencies such as Bitcoin.

The Global FinTech Hubs Federation (GFHF):

an independent and inclusive global network of emerging and established FinTech hubs that helps to foster innovation across the world’s financial services industry. The Global FinTech Hubs Federation is bringing together FinTech hubs to provide a neutral, cross-border platform to encourage greater collaboration, engagement and knowledge sharing in this growing global community.

Operational and Delivery Networks

Enterprise Ethereum Alliance (EEA)

This consortium of Fortune 500 companies, cryptographers, academics and veteran ethereum developers delivers protocols and standards for decentralized publications, interoperable across industries on the Ethereum blockchain.

Hyperledger Project (HLP)

Launched by the Linux Foundation, this project is creating open-source protocols and standards for blockchain interoperability across industries, platforms that developers can use to build applications for global business transactions.

This consortium of banks and financial services firms is designing an open-source distributed ledger to record, manage and synchronize financial agreements securely, transparently and efficiently among financial institutions only.

Coin Center

Coin Center is the leading non-profit research and advocacy center focused on the public policy issues facing cryptocurrency and decentralized computing technologies like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Bitcoin Foundation

Formed to standardize, protect and promote the development of the Bitcoin Core protocol, this non-profit, member-driven organization offers a range of resources: best practice guides, educational resources, meeting minutes, speaker’s bureau, workshops and conferences.

Center for Financial Services Innovation

Dedicated to improving the financial health of Americans, especially the underserved, by shaping a robust and innovative financial services marketplace with increased access to higher quality products and practices.  To help accomplish their mission the Center runs the Financial Solutions Lab which is a  program that seeks to identify, test and bring to scale promising innovations that help Americans increase savings, improve credit, and build assets.

Money Transmitter Regulators Association

MTRA is a national non-profit organization dedicated to the efficient and effective regulation of money transmission industry in the United States of America. The MTRA membership consists of state regulatory authorities in charge of regulating money transmitters and sellers of traveler’s checks, money orders, drafts and other money instruments

The Electronic Funds Transfer Association (EFTA)

The leading inter-industry professional association promoting the adoption of electronic payment systems and commerce.

The Electronic Transactions Association (ETA)

Leading trade association for the payments industry, representing over 500 companies worldwide involved in electronic transaction processing products and services. The MarketPlace Lending Association

The MLA represents the marketplace lending industry. Our goal is to promote a transparent, efficient, and customer-friendly financial system by supporting the responsible growth of marketplace lending, fostering innovation in financial technology, and encouraging sound public policy.

Peer2Peer Finance Association

Founded in 2011 by Zopa, FundingCircle and RateSetter as a self-regulatory body for the sector to promote high standards of conduct and consumer protection. Their role is to educate, advocate, influence, represent and inform

Innovate Finance

An independent not-for-profit membership association representing the UK’s global FinTech community. They seek to address the key barriers and opportunities in the FinTech ecosystem: attracting greater investment, supporting the development of proportionate and effective regulation, engaging in community collaboration, and promoting innovation in financial services, whilst championing an open, inclusive and secular FinTech community.

The Responsible Business Lending Coalition

Their mission is to drive responsible practice in the small business lending sector. They do this by creating awareness of predatory practices emerging in the marketplace, and by providing information and tools that small business owners can use to identify responsible products, and that lenders, brokers, investors and policymakers can use to identify, offer and require responsible lending products and practices.
