Final Review
Question #6
Where would you find the 1995 European Court of Justice (ECJ) case regarding the way European football teams can trade players?
Recommended answer is:
The official reporter of the ECJ is called Reports of Cases Before the Court of Justice and the Court of First Instance (usually referred to as European Court Reports or ECR). Finding cases by subject in this reporter is not always straightforward because the index uses the specialized terminology of the EU. For example, this case is listed under free movement for persons workers.
Judgments are also available on the court's web site. Cases since June 1997 can be searched by case number, date, parties or keywords. Cases before 1997 are listed in an index called Numerical access to the case-law which goes back to1953. This case is also available in Lexis and Westlaw.
The Bluebook citation form is: Case C-415/93, Union Royale Belge des Sociétés de Football Association ASBL v. Bosman, 1995 E.C.R. I-4921, [1996] 1 C.M.L.R. 645 (1996) (see Bluebook rule 21.5.2).
See International Organizations: European Union for more advice on finding ECJ cases.
