Energy Week Tour: Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory

TUNL is a partly underground lab on Duke's West campus that is the "US Department of Energy Center of Excellence in Nuclear Physics." This lab contains three different facilities: HIGS (High Intensity Gamma Ray Source), a Tandem Accelerator Bay, and a Lab for Experimental Nuclear Astrophysics. TUNL is a consortium of the three main triangle universities, including NC State and UNC. Triangle University Nuclear Laboratory (TUNL) is a consortium of three major research universities in the North Carolina Research Triangle Area: Duke University, North Carolina State University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill that focuses on nuclear physics research.This tour will include a visit to all three facilities and talented scientists will discuss their work.
