Required Training to Counsel Detained Asylum-Seekers at Alamance County Jail

This will be a training for the members of the Duke Immigration & Refugee Project (DIRP) who are interested in counseling detained asylum-seekers at Alamance County Jail. In particular, DIRP and Duke's Immigrant Rights Clinic are starting a partnership with local organization Mí Maletín to meet with detained individuals in jail, discuss their cases, advise them on their rights and help them prepare for the critical next steps to seek safety and stability in the U.S. The training will be conducted by veteran immigration litigator Atenas Burrola and clinical professor Kate Evans.
