One of the nation’s leading experts on voting and the political process, Karlan is the co-author of three leading casebooks on constitutional law and related subjects. She has served as a commissioner on the California Fair Political Practices Commission and as an assistant counsel and cooperating attorney for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. A former clerk to Justice Harry A. Blackmun of the Supreme Court of the United States, Karlan is also the founding director of Stanford Law School’s Supreme Court Litigation Clinic.
This event is free and open to the public. Duke Law School is located at the corner of Towerview Road and Science Drive on Duke’s West Campus. Parking is available at the Bryan Center. Lunch will be served on a first-come, first-served basis, with a dessert reception to follow the lecture.
