2010 Lone Star Classic competition

The 2010 Lone Star Classic will be held on October 14, 15, and 16 in San Antonio, Texas. The competition is open to all ABA accredited law schools. The competition committee will select 16 teams -- of four students each -- to compete. Each school selected to compete may enter no more than one team.

The problem this year will be a criminal case. The case will take place in the hypothetical state of Lone Star and will utilize the Federal Rules of Evidence.

If you are interested in being considered for the Classic, please request an entry form and return it to Professor David Schlueter, Director of Advocacy Programs. The deadline for filing the entry form is May 3, 2010. The committee will extend invitations to the 16 schools the week of May 10, 2010.

The entry fee will be $500. Entry fees are due no later than August 1, 2010. The problem will be sent to competing schools in August.

The three preliminary rounds will take place on Thursday, October 14, and Friday, October 15. Teams will break to semi-final rounds on Saturday morning, October 16, with the final round on the afternoon of the 16th, at the law school's courtroom. The winners of the preliminary rounds will be announced at a dinner buffet and reception on Friday evening. Awards for the preliminary rounds will include best advocate, best opening and best summation.
