Class Schedule Changes for Monday, Feb. 1, 2010

Duke University is open on Monday, but due to the weekend's storm road conditions may still be difficult in many areas. Students, faculty, and staff are urged to be very cautious and to use campus buses for travel if possible.

The following Law School professors have chosen to cancel classes on Monday:

Professor Tom Metzloff, Civil Procedure, 8:25 a.m. -- canceled
Professor John Weistart, Commercial Transactions, 8:55 a.m. -- canceled

Individual professors will communicate directly with students if they choose to cancel classes. Other updates will be posted here as they are received.

    A forlorn, largely vacant shopping center on 10 acres of asphalt in central Durham seems like an unlikely place for innovation. But Ann Woodward, executive director of the nonprofit Scrap Exchange, imagines transforming this site into a creative reuse arts district (the “RAD”).  This district, an inventive mix of nonprofits, cooperatives and for-profit companies, would not only ensure that the Lakewood Shopping Center becomes a profitable asset, but would also be the catalyst for the revitalization of the surrounding neighborhood.
