Annual Fund matching gift challenge

Dean David F. Levi, Kathleen Hamm ’88, and David A. ’06 and Kelsey Lamond T’06 are challenging alumni to support the Law School while doubling the impact of their gifts.

The $100,000 matching fund was created as a challenge for alumni to support the Law School Annual Fund. The challenge fund provides a dollar-for-dollar match for every gift made to the Annual Fund by a graduate who did not make a gift last year.

“Helping to fund the matching gift challenge provided me with the opportunity to encourage my fellow alumni to consider supporting the Annual Fund, which is essential for the Law School and its students to continue to thrive,” Hamm said.

The Annual Fund remains a critical component in supporting the Law School’s new curricular and programmatic initiatives while also funding its most pressing needs.  Support to the Annual Fund provides the school the ability to award scholarships to deserving students; attract and maintain an outstanding faculty by supporting their teaching and research efforts; provide loan forgiveness for public servants; enhance its world-class library; enrich all academic and clinical programs; and, generally, strengthen its reputation.

“Supporting the Annual Fund each year is my small way of giving back to the Law School, which was so important in helping me get my professional start.  I also like the idea that the Annual Fund gives the dean the flexibility to deploy funds where he sees the school’s most pressing needs,” added Hamm.

To participate in this challenge, make a gift to the Annual Fund by June 30.  Gifts can be made online at www.gifts.duke.edu/law, over the phone at 888-LAW-ALUM, or by sending a check to: Duke Law Annual Fund, Box 90389, Durham, NC 27708.  Please contact Jean Brooks, director of annual giving, at 919-613-7015 or brooks@law.duke.edu with any questions.
