Where are they now? The Class of 2010

Graduates of Duke Law's Class of 2010 faced a challenging economy and job market, as did their peers throughout the country. But nearly all have landed in positions that align with their professional and personal goals. Data show that a larger percentage of students are working in clerkships and government and nonprofit jobs, though the majority -- 61 percent -- are working in law firms around the country (and abroad). Below, a few members of the Class of 2010 describe their work and how they got there.
 

Veronica Allen ’10 Veronica Allen ’10
Skadden Fellow, Georgia Legal Services
Allen is in her first year of a two-year Skadden Foundation Fellowship. At Duke Law, she was active in public interest programs and spent her summers working at the Mississippi Center for Justice and New York Lawyers in the Public Interest.

Lindsay Andrews ’10Lindsay Andrews ’10
Associate, Morrison Foerster, San Francisco
Andrews earned a JD/LLM in International and Comparative Law; while at Duke, she was a member of the Duke Law Journal and the Mock Trial Board and studied at the University of Hong Kong and ESADE in Barcelona, Spain.

Jess Cheney ’10 Jess Cheney ’10
Associate, Fabian & Clendenin, Salt Lake City
Cheney completed a dual degree in economics while at Duke; he also holds an MBA from Cornell University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Utah.

Patrick Duggan ’10 Patrick Duggan ’10
Trial attorney, Environment and Natural Resources Division, U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ Honors Program)
As a student at Duke Law, Duggan was editor of the Duke Environmental Law and Policy Forum. In conjunction with his JD, he earned a master’s of environmental science through Duke’s Nicholas School of the Environment.

Slavik Gabinsky Slavik Gabinsky ’10
Associate, Allen & Overy LLP, London
Gabinsky is a classically trained pianist and, while at Duke, helped revive a dormant ‘law revue’ tradition by producing a musical variety show titled ‘Tricky Dick.’


Sheena Paul ’10 Sheena Paul ’10
Associate, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, New York City
While at Duke Law, Sheena Paul participated in Vis Moot Court and served on the boards of the Duke Journal for Comparative and International Law, International Law Society, the Business Law Society, and the Public Interest Law Foundation.


Jason Rathod ’10 Jason Rathod ’10
Associate, Mason LLP, Washington, D.C.
Rathod was an articles editor for the Duke Law Journal (DLJ). Prior to coming to Law School, he traveled to Fiji, Mauritius, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, and Suriname on a Watson Fellowship, studying the Indian Diaspora.

Katherine Record ’10
O’Neill Fellowship in National and Global Health Law, Georgetown University
Record earned a dual degree in psychology and participated in the AIDS Legal Project, Universities Allied for Essential Medicines, and the Health Law Society while at Duke Law.
