National Moot Court Team advances to national finals

For the fifth time in the past nine years, Duke Law School’s National Moot Court Team has made it to the competition’s final round.

Over the past weekend, 3Ls Ben Baucom, Jenna Feistritzer, and Leah Shen competed in the Region 4 Regional competition at the Fourth Circuit Courthouse in Richmond, Va.

They completed two preliminary rounds, scoring a 94 in Round 1 and a 100 in Round 2 in oral arguments to earn the top seed for the remainder of the qualifying competition. They then won their quarter-final and semi-final rounds to advance to the finals and qualify for the national finals. The top two teams from all competition regions will compete in the finals, which will take place at the end of January in New York City.

The team is coached by Senior Lecturing Fellow Jim Maxwell, ’66 who is a practicing attorney in Durham. Maxwell has worked with the National Team for nine years.
