Schwarcz lectures on global financial crisis at Oxford, Nov. 9-11
Steven L. Schwarcz, the Stanley A. Star Professor of Law and Business at Duke Law School, will deliver a series of public lectures related to the global financial crisis at Oxford University in November.
Currently visiting Oxford as the Leverhulme Visiting Professor of Law, Schwarcz will deliver the hour-long Leverhulme Lectures on three consecutive evenings, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Gulbenkian Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Law, St. Cross Road, Oxford, England.
The lectures, scheduled for Nov. 9, 10, and 11, are titled “The Global Financial Crisis and Systemic Risk,” “Regulating Complexity in Financial Markets,” and “The Future of Securitization,” respectively.
Schwarcz focuses his scholarship and teaching on commercial law, bankruptcy, international finance, and capital markets. He has published extensively on issues relating to the current financial crisis and is the author of the leading article on systemic risk.
Granted by The Leverhulme Trust, the Leverhulme Visiting Professorship recognizes the recipient’s top academic standing in research and teaching and the ability of the host institution in the United Kingdom to benefit from “imported skills and expertise,” according to the Trust’s website. At Oxford, Schwarcz is researching the causes and consequences of the crisis.
