Students connect with donors at annual Thank-a-Thon

In the week leading up to graduation, 20 students came together to express their gratitude to those who have donated to the Law School.

During the annual Spring Thank-a-Thon on May 8 and 10, the students made calls to over 600 donors to thank them for their generous contributions to the Annual Fund, the Duke Legal Clinics, scholarships, professorships, fellowships, lectures, and special programming.

“I volunteered because I received a PILF stipend for the summer and that really made my summer internship. I’m really grateful to our donors for making this possible,” said first-time volunteer Meredith George ’19. “It’s really important to build the relationship between current students and alumni so that they give back. And it makes a student more likely to give back because you realize how important it is.”

The students also noted donors’ history of giving and commitment to helping current students pursue their career goals.

“I am most grateful for my opportunities to study and gain experience in public interest areas,” said Hannah Wyatt ’19. “I feel like Duke really supports diverse interests and I feel supported in pursuing a job in immigration law.”

Thank-a-Thon team leaders were Ace Factor ’17 and Karina Moy ’19. Other volunteers included recent graduates Ran Bi, Eleanor Geise, Ben Wasserman, and Lizzie Brown; second-year students Luis Pinto, Zach Hennessee, and Patrick Bradley; and first-year students Heather Cron, Zack Ezor, Grace Hitzeman, Jennifer Thelusma, Bryant Wright, Ashley Shan, Michael Manset, Meredith George, Matt Eible, Noah Schwartz, and Hannah Wyatt.
