We are pleased to announce that three one-credit Readings courses have been added to the Fall 2016 schedule:

Law 611.07 – Readings:  Financial Policy Outcomes of the 2016 Elections, taught by Professor Lee Reiners (course description and meeting schedule at https://law.duke.edu/academics/course/section/2016/fall/611.07 ).   There are 12 seats in this course.  This course is not formally scheduled; the professor and students will create the meeting schedule.

Law 611.08 – Readings:  Frontier Technologies of Legal Practice, taught by Professor Jeff Ward (course description and meeting schedule at https://law.duke.edu/academics/course/section/2016/fall/611.08 ).  There are 12 seats in this course, which meets Thursdays, 8/25, 9/8, 9/29, 10/20, 11/3, 11/17.

Law 611.09 – Readings:  The Law of Robots & Exponential Technologies, taught by Professor Jeff Ward (course description and meeting schedule at https://law.duke.edu/academics/course/section/2016/fall/611.09 ).  There are 12 seats in this course, which meets Thursdays, 9/1, 9/15, 9/22, 10/6, 10/27, 11/10.

Please note that Professor Ward’s reading courses meet on alternating Thursdays. 

None of these are year-long readings courses. 

Important:   Registration will not take place in ACES for these courses.  All students must register via email to registrar_office@law.duke.edu with the specific course number and professor names in the subject line (i.e. “Enroll Law 611.07 Reiners” or “Enroll Law 611.08 Ward”.   IF REQUESTING MORE THAN ONE READINGS COURSE, YOU MUST SUBMIT A SEPARATE REQUEST FOR EACH.   Please do not combine course requests on the same form. 

Students will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis as follows:

  • 3L registration window: Wednesday August 10 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm.
  • 2L registration window: Thursday August 11 from 9:00 am to2:00 pm.
  • Open registration beginning Friday August 12 at 9:00 am. (If spaces are still available you can enroll yourself at this time.)

Please note that you will not be permitted to enroll into one of these courses if you are over your credit limit for the semester.  However, do not drop any courses until we confirm your space in one of these offerings.   If you drop a course without a confirmed space, we won’t be able to re-enroll you into the class you dropped if there is a waitlist.
