Study

Antitrust law preserves and promotes competition between businesses. This course will examine relationships between competitors, interactions between sellers and customers, and single firms' competitive tactics. We will touch on mergers, antitrust immunities, and other specialized topics. We will focus on U.S. federal law, but we will contrast this law with the law of U.S. states and the European Union. The course will emphasize the dynamics of civil and criminal antitrust proceedings and other forms of complex business litigation.In place of a final exam, students will write a brief in a hypothetical antitrust lawsuit. For up to fifteen students, the professor will structure this assignment in a way that satisfies the J.D. Writing Requirement.
