564.01 Innovation Policy, Artificial Intelligence, and the Law

This seminar will address how generative AI is affecting innovation policy and law, and how law and policy are shaping the pace and direction of innovation in AI. The course’s principal focus will be on intellectual property, innovation, and competition law. We will explore how those fields are or could be impacting AI development, as well as how AI innovations are altering the contours of IP law and human creativity. May not be used for SRWP

Students must have taken OR be currently enrolled in one of the following:  Law 270 IP, Law 322 Copyright Law, Law 393 Trademarks, Law 369 Patent Law and Policy, Law 745 Trade Secrecy, or Law 781 Music Copyright.  Students may also seek instructor's permission to enroll.
