Annual Fund
Gifts to the Law School Annual Fund reflect the combined strength of everyone who is committed to helping Duke Law School succeed.
Annual Fund support enables Dean Abrams to say "yes" to opportunities that forge purposeful partnerships, strengthen financial aid packages that reduce student debt, and invest in cutting edge technology that is changing the legal professions. These unrestricted contributions are crucial to maintaining and enriching the Duke Law experience.
You are now able to designate your giving within the Law School Annual Fund to one of the four areas of priority.
We are grateful for our alumni and friends who generously supported the Law School Annual Fund in 2022, contributing to our record breaking year of $3,688,164!
I am proud of my 30-year affiliation with Duke Law School. While I have seen many changes in the legal profession and legal education over the last three decades, one constant has been that Duke Law has continued to deliver on its mission to successfully educate and prepare the next generation of lawyers and legal scholars. The Law School’s sustained excellence would not be possible without the generous support of alumni and, more specifically, their support of the Annual Fund.
As a member of the Law School Board of Visitors, I have seen first-hand the positive impact philanthropic support has on our school’s ability to provide students with the best possible legal education in a community committed to leadership in legal research, scholarship and public service. Your support of the Law School Annual Fund makes it possible for Duke to offer competitive financial aid packages to accomplished students, regardless of their capacity to pay. It fuels student pro bono service and hands on legal training in the Law School’s clinics and it helps Dean Abrams recruit and retain world-class faculty. These are just some of the reasons why my family and I enthusiastically support the Duke Law Annual Fund at the Barrister Society level. I hope you will join us with your support.
Founded in 1975, the Barrister Donor Society recognizes donors who have made leadership gifts that demonstrate a strong commitment to the future of the Law School. Membership to the Barristers is granted to Duke Law alumni and friends who donate $2,500 or more annually to the Law School. Recent graduates of 1-5 years, judges, educators, and those who work for the government or in public service are members at $1,000 annually. Barrister Donor Society members are recognized annually in the donor honor rolls, invited to the annual Barrister Donor Society Reception during Reunion Weekend, and receive special invitations to Barrister events around the country.
On behalf of the students, faculty and staff of Duke Law, please accept my sincere thanks for all you do for our Law School’s community and for your thoughtful consideration.
Sincerely,
Paul R. Genender T’91, L ’94
