Sofia Hernandez
Senior Lecturing Fellow

Sofia Hernandez is Senior Assistant City Attorney with the City of Durham. She provides legal services to several departments of city government, provides legal services regarding intellectual property issues and matters to all city departments, is responsible for representing, drafting bylaws for, and advising on procedural matters relating to approximately 12 advisory, administrative, and/or quasi-judicial boards, handles fair housing matters, and is primarily responsible for code enforcement matters requiring legal review or action.

Previously, Ms. Hernandez was an intellectual property associate at Olive & Olive in Durham. She has also held positions with Alston & Bird in Charlotte, UnitedLex, Red Hat, and K&L Gates in Seattle.

Ms. Hernandez earned a J.D. from Duke University School of Law in 2009 and a B.A., magna cum laude, from Seattle University in 2006.
