Rebecca Rich is the assistant director of Duke’s legal writing program. She teaches Legal Analysis, Research, and Writing, as well as the Scholarly Writing Workshop and Writing for E-Discovery for upper-level students. Rich has also taught in Duke Law’s D.C. Summer Institute on Law & Policy and Duke Law’s Pre-Law Undergraduate Scholars Program. She was a co-chair of Duke Law’s Teaching Initiative from 2014–2017 and received the law school’s Distinguished Teaching Award in 2020.
Prior to teaching, Rich practiced civil litigation with the Raleigh law firm Ellis & Winters LLP. She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Patricia Timmons-Goodson on the North Carolina Supreme Court.
Rich received her J.D. with honors from Duke University School of Law, where she served as an Articles Editor on the Duke Law Journal. She received her B.A. from Goshen College.
