Brian Zuercher
Senior Lecturing Fellow

Brian Zuercher is currently serving through Flex by Fenwick in a fractional outside general counsel role for Reliable Robotics, a company developing autonomous aircraft technology. He also teaches courses on Ethics and the Law of Lawyering - International Legal Practice, and Compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act at Duke University School of Law. Previously he served in general counsel roles at Blue Line Aviation, a flight training company, and at Torc Robotics, a company developing autonomous navigation technology.

Earlier Mr. Zuercher served in an of counsel role for Bagchi Law providing compliance and technology law advice to the global clients of this growing North Carolina law firm. He also served as a board advisor for Gateway Institute of Medicine and Health Sciences, an entity developing an international program to help disadvantaged students enter and succeed in medical school.

He previously served as Vice President and General Counsel, Ethics and Compliance, at SAS Institute Inc., where he built a global ethics and compliance program for the world's largest privately held software enterprise. During this time the company was honored as the Fortune Number 1 Best Place to Work and Best Multinational Workplace. He also helped the company profitably license its Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and other technology to businesses and governments around the world, and he provided legal support to create and maintain the corporate flight department. Prior to that he worked for the Cessna Aircraft Company, where as a side benefit, he had the chance to earn his pilot certificate and instrument rating.

Mr. Zuercher holds a JD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BA with a double major in international relations and French from the University of Minnesota.
