Katharine Buchanan

Kate Buchanan A.B ’92, J.D., serves as Senior Advisor, Philanthropy & Campus Collaboration. In this dual role, she supports the Law School’s principal gifts work and campaign strategy, while also advising the Vice President for Alumni Engagement & Development on strengthening the fundraising, strategy, and operations partnerships with schools and units across campus.

Kate served as the Associate Dean for Alumni and Development at the Law School from 2016 through 2023, after roles as Assistant Dean and Director of Development during her tenure at the Law School. Before joining the Law School in 2004, Kate practiced estate planning and tax exempt organizations law, and worked for several years for two major research universities.  She is a graduate of Duke University and the University of Virginia School of Law.
