Board of Visitors
Established in 1963, the Board of Visitors provides an opportunity for alumni, members of the judiciary, and friends of the Law School to participate and advise in decisions affecting the Law School. It is not the purpose of the Board to determine policy for the Law School. Rather, the Board’s primary responsibility is to collectively and individually advise and support the mission of the School and the Dean’s strategic priorities.
Dear fellow Duke Law alumni,
It is my privilege to serve as chair of the Law School’s Board of Visitors. For over 50 years, the Board of Visitors has served as a special cabinet of advisors to successive Deans of Duke Law School. Thanks to board members’ generosity and counsel, Duke Law School has seen its reputation and rank rise. Today, as the legal profession and law schools face economic, technological, and societal change, the Board of Visitors remains vitally important to Duke Law School’s continued success.
I invite you to learn more about the engagement and volunteer opportunities available to us as alumni and friends of the school. Each of us has an important role to play at this important moment.
Sincerely,
Porter
