Law Alumni Association Board of Directors
Every alumnus/a of the Law School is a member of the Law Alumni Association (LAA). The LAA Board of Directors, its governing body, is working to build a worldwide Duke Law network for alumni and students.
Greetings Alumni!
It is a privilege to serve as the President of the Law Alumni Association (LAA) Board of Directors. As a proud graduate of the Class of 2006, Duke Law has played a pivotal role in shaping my professional career. Also, on a personal level, Duke Law is where I met my wife, Kirsten Taylor Carr (Class of 2004). In short, Duke Law is a special place and I am deeply honored to serve the Duke Law community.
The purpose of the LAA Board is to serve our alumni community. The Board does so by representing and sharing the views of our alumni to the Dean and to the staff of the Law School; meeting twice a year to facilitate discussion among the Board about issues facing the Law School and our alumni; promoting volunteer service to advance the work of the Board; supporting our Law School regional boards; and communicating the Law School’s activities, priorities, and intellectual resources to external constituents.
With over 14,000 alumni worldwide, the LAA is crucial to the success of the Law School. I encourage you to get involved by attending alumni events, mentoring students, and by connecting with faculty and fellow alumni. Additionally, if you have ideas about projects or initiatives you think the Board should pursue, please reach out and let us know.
Thank you again for the opportunity to serve as your LAA President. I hope to meet and talk with many of our alumni this year at regional events, Board meetings, and when visiting Durham. I am excited to serve in this role and look forward to a great year.
Best regards,
Warmly,

Jonathan E. Carr
