All law school applicants want excellent legal training from their graduate school, but feeling a part of the campus community and being excited about the university itself can get lost when evaluating schools. I had multiple Duke Law alumni excitedly tell me about camping out for basketball season tickets, waiting hours in line to be front row at the Duke v. UNC game, or just loving the city of Durham. The general excitement and passion about Duke and Durham showed me that Duke Law is a special place to be a law student.

I chose Duke because of its strong sense of community and the genuinely welcoming environment. When I was admitted, everyone I spoke to emphasized how friendly and supportive the law school community is, and how much they enjoyed spending time with their peers. I knew law school was going to be academically challenging, regardless of the school, so I really prioritized finding a place where I could grow intellectually while still forming strong friendships and connections. I admit, I may have thought it was too good to be true when I first made my decision, but my experience at Duke has only confirmed how special this community truly is.

At Duke Law, I gained important networking skills that I know will serve me well in my future career. Through networking receptions and recruiting events, I quickly learned how to connect with people and ask important questions. These skills are invaluable no matter what type of law you practice or where you end up.
